The musical talent that was evident in Vivienne when we were in school has given her continuing pleasure, as well as a wonderful career. After graduation from SHS, she attended Montevallo, La Sierra College in California, and then graduated from UAH. She began teaching in the Huntsville City Schools system in 1975 and will retire next year. Vivienne was instrumental in beginning the arts magnet program in the Huntsville City Schools and she is now the Coordinator of the Magnet Program and senior director of the Vocal Magnet Program. At Lee High School, she has directed many plays at Lee Lyric Theatre, which she co-founded as the musical theater arm of the magnet program. The awards Vivienne has received in the musical arts are too numerous to name here. Suffice to say that she has worked hard and been dynamic in creating an appreciation for musical performances in Huntsville. Besides her work with the school system, she founded Independent Musical Productions, Inc., which is a regional theater group dedicated to the production of musical theater.Vivienne and her husband, Kenny, have been married almost forty-five years. They plan to retire at the same time next year and they both have hobbies and interests to pursue. Vivienne is passionate about interior decorating, while Kenny enjoys cooking and is also quite an artist. They have two daughters and six grandchildren who live in the Huntsville area. Vivienne has had the pleasure of directing three of her grandchildren in plays which she directed. After this summer’s play, Children of Eden, she will have directed all six of them! The musical talent lives on.
